You may have noticed that FoCoMX 2011 will feature Golden Tickets, aka the “super duper VIP pass”. They are very limited and allow a concert goer entry to any venue regardless of lines. The planning committee thought long and hard how to implement them for a first year use and here’s what we came up with. In order to avoid exclusivity or only allowing people to purchase them for an absurd price, we are doing a lottery system via the online pre-sales. If you purchase a ticket online prior to April 1st, you will be entered into a lottery system to receive a Golden Ticket and a plus one so that you can enjoy your line crashing ways with a friend. Also in an effort to not exclude bands, 1 band will receive Golden Tickets and a plus one for all members. The lucky band will be determined by how many fans they garner via their FoCoMX profile prior to the event. Let us know what you think and how we can improve this feature next year!
It’s with a sad heart that we write this. DJ Jimmy Hands, who has been a part of the Fort Collins music community for many years, passed away yesterday. Known mostly for his solo work, he also is part of the Observatory crew. He played Year 1 and Year 2 of our festival and was slated to perform this year as part of Observatory. We want to take a moment to remember him and his contributions to our music scene. Jimmy, you will be missed. Our thoughts and love go out to your family and friends during this extremely difficult time. We love you!
UPDATE: A memorial will be held on Wednesday March 9th for Jimmy at Hodi’s Halfnote in Fort Collins starting at 8 PM. Performers include:
The Nu Classics
Seth Blakely (Beatserver)
Observatory (Eric and Ben)
There is a $5 donation at the door with all proceeds going directly to Jimmy’s family to help pay for expenses. It is encouraged that you wear Jimmy’s favorite color purple in his honor.
